asked 09/27/17A tire that has traveled 29,000 miles has 1/32 inches of thread lift. How much thread will be left on a tire that has traveled 89,000 miles?
The amount of thread,t, left on a tire varies inversely as the number of miles, m, the tire has traveled.

Hi Jaycee...inverse variation looks like this "if y is inversely proportional to x, the equation is y = k/x" where "k" is a constant.
1/32 = k/29,000
k = 906.25
So the formula is y = 906.25/x
Plugging in 89,000 for x, we get
y = 906.25 / 89,000
y = .0101825 inches
