Find the limit, if it exists. (If an answer does not exist, enter DNE.) lim x → ∞ x + 2 36x2 + 1

Find the limit, if it exists. (If an answer does not exist, enter DNE.)
lim
x → ∞
x + 2

36x2 +1

Arturo O.

Both (x + 2) and (36x2 + 1) approach infinity as x approaches infinity.

Flora,

If you mean

(x + 2) / (36x2 + 1),

you should use parentheses and a division symbol.  The problem is not clear as stated.  It looks like 2 separate expressions.  Anyway, as Andy explained using L'Hopital's rule for this indeterminate form,

as x → ∞,

(x + 2) / (36x2 + 1) → 1 / (72x) → 0
