First find the factors of the radicand, for example x2 - 28 = 0 has the roots: x = ±√(28), and 28 has the factors 7 and 4.
Rewritten, the root becomes: x = ±√(7*4) = ±√(7)*√(4)
The square root of four can be taken and the root in simplified radical form is: x = ±2√(7)
If the radicand does not have any factors that you can take the root of then it is already in simplified radical form
