Find f(a + h) - f(a) for the following function. Simplify your answer. f(x) = x^2 - 10 x + 9

I don't understand how to do this since there is no f(x) to plug in to solve. Just f(a+h) - f(a)

Arturo O.

Your are given

f(x) = x2 - 10x + 9.

Plug in x = a + h and evaluate, plug in x = a and evaluate, then evaluate the difference f(a + h) - f(a).

Wait so the final answer should be h^2+2ah sint eh a^2, 10h, and 9 all cancel out?

You will be left with

2ah - 10h + h2
