what is the length of the rectangle

What is the length of a rectangle if it is 3 meters less than twice the length and the perimeter is 54 meters

P=2L+2W (formula)
 
54=2L+2(2L-3) Plug in the known width)
 
54=2L+4L-6
-6            -6 (Subtract six from both sides)
 
48=2L+4L (Combine Like Terms)
 
48=6L
(48/6)=6L/6 (Divide six from both sides to get variable alone)
 
Length= 8 Meters
