y = -2x + 1
This is in slope intercept form. y = mx+b
Slope is m = -2
A perpendicular line has a slope that is the
negative reciprocal of this. mp = -1/m
-1/(-2) = 1/2
You need the equation of the line through
(2, -1) with slope 1/2
y = (1/2)x + b
Using (2, -1) for (x, y), solve for b
-1 = (1/2)(2) + b
-1 = 1 + b
b = -2
your equation is: y = (1/2)x - 2
