At Technic Music, the regular price of a music CD is d dollars. If all the music CDs are discounted 50% off regular price, how many CDs can Brian purchase if he has r dollars? 

Answer 1

If each CD is discounted by 50%, then the cost of each CD is 0.5d.  If Brian has r dollars, the number of CDs he can buy is r/(0.5d).
