If f(x) = 3x / x - 2 and g(x) = 5x - 1, then find f(g(3)) and g(f(4)).

f(g(3)) = f(5(3) – 1) = f(15 – 1) = f(14) = 3(14) / (14 – 2) = 42 / 12 = 7 / 2

g(f(4)) = g(3(4) / (4-2)) = g(12 / 2) = g(6) = 5(6) – 1 = 30 – 1 = 29

f(x) = 3x /(x-2)

g(x) = 5x - 1

 

g(3) = 5·3 - 1 = 15 - 1 = 14

f(g(3)) = f(14) = 3·14 / (14-2) = 42/12 = 7/2
