3x = the number of adult tickets sold on Sat.

 

x(6.10) + 3x(9.90) = 895.00

 

610x + 3x(990) = 89500       if we multiply both sides of the equation by 100

 

610x + 2970x = 89500

 

3580x = 89500

 

x = 25

 

25 children's tickets were sold and 3 * 25 = 75 adult tickets were sold
