I'm reading your equation as ( 2x + 5 )/5 = ( x - 2 )/3.
"Cross-multiplying" refers to rewriting 'A/B = C/D' as 'AD = BC.'

Cross-multiplying is the simplest, shortest, and easiest way to solve the problem. However, if faced with a similar question and told you are not allowed to use this method, or if you simply would like to see another method of arriving at the same answer, the distribution property can also be used to simplify the equations to be solved:
(2x+5)/5 = (x-2)/3
→(2/5)x + 1 = (1/3)x - (2/3)
→(2/5)x - (1/3)x = -1 - (2/3)
Now we must find and use common denominators to add and subtract the fractions:
→(6/15)x - (5/15)x = -(3/3) - (2/3)
→(1/15)x = -(5/3)
Now we must multiply both sides by 15 to eliminate the fractions:
→x = -(5/3) * 15
→x = -5 * 5
→x = -25

one term (only) to the left and right of the equal sign.
So, cross multiply
→3(2x+5)= 5(x-2)
→6x+15=5x-10
→6x-5x=-10-15
Therefore, x=-25
