An Uber driver charges a $3 boarding rate in addition to $2 for every mile. What is the equation of the line that represents this driver's rate?

How much is the rate for 5 miles?   For 7 miles?

y denotes rate and x denotes miles driven

$ 3 is minimum, so the equation is y=2x+3, where 2 is the rate per mile

The y intercept is 3 (where the graph intercepts the y axis), and the rate for a 5 mile trip is y=2(5)+3 = $ 13, and the rate for a seven mile trip is y=2(7)+3 = $ 17.
