The price of a certain new car increases by the same amount each year. The first year it was $19400 and in the 12th year it was $33700. In which year will the car cost $37600?

There are 11 years (that is, 11 increases) from the first year to the twelfth year.

   ($37600 - $19400)/(11 years) = $1300/yr

 

($37600 - $33700)/ ($1300/yr)

 $3900/($1300/yr) = 3 years

 

12th year + 3 years = 15th year
