Let one of the computer's memory be equal to x.

Then the memory of the other computer is 4x+3

 

Their combined memory is then equal to

x+(4x+3) = 14.2

5x + 3 = 14.2

5x = 11.2 (subtracted 3 from each side)

x= 2.24 GB the memory of one of the computers

the other one's memory is 4x+3 = 4*2.24+3 = 11.96 GB
