can you convert that into circumference?

You cannot convert area into circumference, just as you cannot convert lead into gold.

 

BUT, if you have A = pi times (radius squared), for a circle, then you can calculate the radius (r).

 

From the radius, you can calculate circumference, using C = 2 pi r.

I understand what you are asking.  Area is equal to pi times radius squared.  Circumference is equal to 2 times pi times radius.

 

Divide area by pi and then take the square root of that number. This gives you the radius.  Simply multiply the radius by two and then by pi.  Circumference!

 

A circle has an area of 58.1 square inches.  Using 3.14 for pi, A/pi = 58.1/3.14 = 18.503.  The square root of 18.503 is 4.302.  4.302 times 2 is 8.604.  8.604 times pi equals 27.017 inches.  Circumference!

 

Remember that circumference and perimeter are alway measured in feet, inches, centimeters, etc.  Area is alway measured in square units and volume always in cube units.
