Fruit stands L, M, and N have an average of 53 lemons. Another five fruit stands have an

average of 64 lemons. If fruit stands M and N have a total of 119 lemons, and the average

number of lemons that L and the other five fruit stands have.

L + M + N = 3 x 53 = 159.  M + N = 119.  L = 159 - 119 = 40.

 

Other 5 = 5 x 64 = 320.  Other 5 + L = 320 + 40 = 360.  360 ÷ 6 = 60.  L and the other five have an average of 60 lemons each.
