Hi Jasleen,
If one pear costs p cents, then two pears would cost 2 * p cents. So the cost of 4 pears would be 4 * p. The same goes for oranges. If there is 3 for $4, then 6 oranges is 2 * 3, which means that they would cost $8 ($4 * 2). To find the number Sandy spent in all, we just add them together.
4 * p + 8
