Question

there is a fair five sided spinner

the spinner has two black sections and three white sections the sections are numbered as

1,2,3,3,3

1,3,3 is white sections

another three is a black section

2 is a black section

the spinner is spun twice what is the probability of getting a black section on the first spin and a 3 on the second spin?

I am not sure how to answer please help

Just find the individual probabilities P(black) and P(3). 

 

Each of these will be based on the ratio of areas that meet the Event descriptions; this depends on the drawing (shape, coloring & numbering) of the sectors (presumably sectors, in the strict geometric sense)--you don't say what is most likely, that all sectors are congruent).

 

The two spins are independent, so just multiply P(black) by P(3).
