Your first question is???   If your answer is "x is positive" then perhaps the DIRECTIONS were "Write an inequality showing that number x is GREATER THAN ZERO."  This is equivalent to x > 0.

 

My other question is; x is less than or equal to 1.  ANSWER:  x ≤ 1.
