1. Angelica ran in a half marathon. The Length of the race was 21.1km. she ran 1700m in the first 10 min of the race. In each 10-min interval after the first one, her distance decreased by 4%. How far did she run in the tenth 10-min interval?

If she decreased by 4% in each 10 minute interval

then her distance ran in each interval is 96% of the

previous distance..

 

The original 1700m will be multiplied by 0.96 for

each subsequent 10 min interval.. There are 9

intervals after the 1st to reach the 10th:

 

1700(.96)⁹ = 1177.31 m
