as you said: c = (b/2)2
b = 6
b/2 = 3
(b/2)2 = 9
n2 + 6n + 9 = (n+3)2
(n+3)2 = 7
take square root of both sides
(n+3) = ±√7
n = -3 ±√7
n = {-3 - √7, -3 + √7}
