R_b = rate of train B

 

                             

R_a = R_b + 35
R_b = R_b

Since Rt = D 

so t = D/R

 

and we know that the time is the same for both trains!

 

So their distance divided by their rate is equal to each other.

D/R_a = D/R_b

 

Substitute in the value for R_a= R_b+35

 

140/(R_b+35) = 210/R_b

70R_b=140(35)

R_b=[(140)(35)]/70

R_b=70

R_a = 70+35=105
