two cars leave town at the same time going in the same direction. One travel 52mi/h and the other travels 60mi/h. In how many hours will they be 52 miles apart?

52/8 = 6 1/2 hours

 

Orrrr, since the time is the same,

 

d/52 = (d + 52)/60

52(d + 52) = 60d

52d + 2704 = 60d

8d = 2704

d = 338

 

t = 338/52 = 6 1/2 hours
