the standard form for an equation is when the variable parts are on one side and the constant is on the other.
x = 3/4 y - 5/8
Since we have the y variable on the same side as the constant, we need to move it to the other side of the equation. Subtract 3/4 y from both sides:
x - 3/4 y = -5/8
Now to have whole numbers instead of fractions, we need the Lowest common denominator. that would be 8:
8(x - 3/4 y = -5/8)
8x - 6y = -5
