A+By=C

neither A nor B equal zero, and A is greater than zero.

3x - y = 24

The y-intercept is the value of y when x=0.

[(3)(0)]-y=24

0-y=24

-y=24

Let's multiply both sides by -1...

(-1)(-y)=(-1)(24)

y=-24

y-intercept is (0,-24).
