What is the algebraic expression for the number of oranges the adults got?

A group has an equal number of adults and children. When n oranges are given to the group, each adult gets two oranges while each child gets one orange and there are 5 oranges left. Write an algebraic expression for the number of oranges given to the adults.

If a = # oranges given to adults
a/2 = # oranges given to children
n = total number oranges
 
a + a/2 + 5 = n
3a/2 = n-5
3a = 2(n-5)
a = [2(n-5)]/3   represents # oranges given to adults

2*x+x+5=y total oranges.

3x+5=y

2x is the oranges given to adults
