Question

2010 13,300 students in college enrollment increasing 1000 per year. In college b there were 26,800 students with a decline each year of 500 When will the colleges have the same enrollment

Let consider

 

x = no.of years after 2010 when the colleges will have the same enrollment

y=Number  of students after x years

In 1st college

 
y=13,300+1000x

In 2nd college(b)

y=26,800-500x

Then we make them equal

13,300+1000x=26,800-500x

1500x=13,500

x=9

So after 9 years colleges will have same enrollment,
