Judging by what you have said ("it cannot be 2"), it appears that you may have omitted part of the problem, e.g. perhaps this should be a rational algebraic function with (x-2) as a denominator.

No, sir the domain is all reals EXCEPT 2, which is ruled out of the domain. (There's a Vertical Asymptote there.)
I assume you can now write the domain in interval notation, splitting it into two parts, from left to right, joined by the Union symbol.
