30. In exercise 29, what radius what produce a container with a volume of (pie symbol) times the radius?

Answer 1

SA = top + bottom + side

SA = πr² + πr² + 3π(2r)

8π = π(2r² + 6r)

8 = 2r² + 6r

4 = r² + 3r

0 = r² + 3r - 4

0 = (r + 4)(r - 3)

 

The radius should be 3 feet. (Cannot use a -4. Measure is not negative.)

 

Does 30 mean:

8π is the volume, or that rπ is the volume?
