It is asking me to find the equation of a perpendicular line x=5 passing through the point (0,3)

i got the answer y=1/5x+3 but it was supposedly incorrect . Can you please help me figure this out ?

x = 5 is a vertical line. It has "no" slope. The line perpendicular to a vertical line is a horizontal line. It is ha slope of 0 (zero).

 

y = 0x + b           slope-intercept form

3 = 0(0) + b        substitution

3 = b                   simplify

 

y = 3
