Education Made Understandable
R ( r1 + r2 ) = r1r2
multiply out the left side
Rr1 + Rr2 = r1r2
Collect the r2's on the same side of equation
Rr1 = r1r2 -Rr2
Factor out the r2
Rr1 = r2 ( r1 - R )
Divide both sides by ( r1 - R )
Rr1 / ( r1 - R ) = r2

R(r1 + r2) = r1r2
Rr1 + Rr2 = r1r2 distribute
Rr1 = r1r2 - Rr2 subtract Rr2 from both sides
Rr1 = r2(r1 - R) factor out r2
Rr1 / (r1 - R) = r2 divide both sides by (r1 - R)
