could someone help me with this math problem

Find the equation of the line with x-intercept -2 and y-intercept -5

Jason L.

So we know the line has 2 points (-2,0) and (0,-5).  So the slope is...

-2 - 0 / 0 - -5 = -2/5

Since we know the y-int is -5, the equation of the line is y= -2/5*x - 5

Sorry I reversed the slope equation. Should be y's over x's, so it's -5/2, not -2/5.  So the equation is y = -5/2x -5

The equation of the line ought to be :

Y = -5X/2 - 5
