the question is, find the equation of the line that passes through each pair of points. Write your answers in slope-intercept form, if possible.

 

(-2,-4), (1,-1) please help me :(

You need to start by finding the slope.

 

slope = m = Δy/Δx = (y₂ - y₁)/(x₂ - x₁) = (-1 - -4)/(1 - -2)

 

m = 3/3 = 1

 

Now plug into the point-slope formula:

 

y - y₁ = m(x - x₁)

 

y - -4 = 1(x - -2)

 

y + 4 = x + 2

 

y = x - 2  done.

 

Plug in both points to verify.
