You need to start by finding the slope.
slope = m = Δy/Δx = (y2 - y1)/(x2 - x1) = (-1 - -4)/(1 - -2)
m = 3/3 = 1
Now plug into the point-slope formula:
y - y1 = m(x - x1)
y - -4 = 1(x - -2)
y + 4 = x + 2
y = x - 2 done.
Plug in both points to verify.
