Note that roots are values which produce 0 when input into the equation.

 

one root is are -6 ... thus, (x + 6) is a factor

one root is -3 ... thus, (x + 3) is a factor

The lead coefficient is 3, so we have

 

   y = 3(x + 6)(x + 3)

      = 3(x² + 3x + 6x + 18)      Expand using FOIL

      = 3(x²+ 9x + 18)

      = 3x² + 27x + 54
