Question

Tickets for a baseball game costs $7 for an adult and $4.50 for a student. If the revenue from 1,200 tickets was $7,400, how many of each type of ticket was sold?

Answer 1

Let A = number of adult tickets sold & therefore # of student tickets sold is 1200 - A.

 

Revenue equation: 7A + (1200-A)(4.5 = 7400

 

Solve for A and then calculate # student tix = 1200 - A.
