9n^2 -1 = 0
1. First add 1 to both sides giving 9n^2 = 1
2. Then divide both sides by the coefficient 9 giving n^2 = 1/9
3. Now take the square root of both sides giving n = sqrt(1/9) or n = (1/9)^(1/2)
4. The square root of 1/9 is 1/3....
However, remember that a negative number squared will be positive -1/3 is also correct
Thus n = 1/3 , -1/3
Note: the simplest way to look at that is when faced with a problem in the form x^2 = y then x = +- sqrt(y)
