If so, then √x = 6 - x

 

Square both sides to get x = 36 - 12x + x²

 

x² - 13x + 36 = 0

 

(x-4)(x-9) = 0

 

x = 4 or x = 9

 

Checking these values in the original equation, we see that 9 does not work.

 

So, the only solution is 4.

x is a common factor on LHS,

 

x( 1+v) =6

 

divide by (1+v) on both sides,we get

 

x= 6/(1+v)

Factor!  you'll get x(1+v) = 6; then to isolate x, divide by (1+v): now you have x = 6/(1+v).
