Well, if you take a look at the coordinates it's always (x, y). That means that the value of -2 can be applied to x. Just do that, 6(-2) - 2y = 17. So the equation will look like this.
-12-2y = 17
Add 12 to both sides to negate -12 and you'll get this:
-2y = 29.
So what multiplied by -2 would equal 29?
Remember, if you multiply a negative with a negative you get a positive.
