Is (x - 5) a factor of 3x3 - 12x2 - 11x - 20?

 

I have to show my work using synthetic division.

Setup the synthetic division. Write down all coefficients in descending powers (bold). Remember all terms must represented, use 0 for all missing terms. There are no missing terms in this equation.  Use zero form of the factor(see above)

                         15   15      20

                   3     3      4       0

 

  With a reminder of 0 we can say that X-5 is a factor
