A boat travels 9kmm upstream and 9km back. The time for the round trip is 4hrs. The speed of the stream is 5km/hr. What is the speed of the boat in still water?

when going down the river the speed is boat + river speed, while travelling upstream the speed is boat - river speed. Assuming the boat travels a constant speed it seems like the speed of the stream cancels out. v = d/t and plug in for time and distance: 18km/4hrs.
