Understanding math via the real world.
If the original square is x by x units, then the new one would be (2x + 1) by (2x + 1) "one more than twice the original"
We can find the area of the new enlarged square by multiplying (2x+1)(2x+1) in whatever way you've learned it in class. FOIL, box method, distribution... You should end up with 4 terms, and then be able to combine two of them so you end up with a trinomial.
