You can simplify √18 by writing it as the product of two factors, one of which is a perfect square. The factors of 18 are 1, 2, 3, 6, 9, and 18. The only factors of 18 that contains a perfect square is 9 and 2, so we can rewrite it as:
√(9 * 2)
Then, you take the square root of the perfect square (9) and move it out in front of the radical sign and leave the other factor within the radical sign:

You cannot simplify √2 any further.
