Solving a system of equations using substition

A serving of rice contains 251 calories and a serving of beans has 227 calories. How many servings of rice and how many servings or beans will provide a total of 2,187 calories if the person eats twice as many servings of ricer per day as beans. a) define your variables and then write an equation that represents the number of calories consumed from rice and beans each day...would this be 502x + 227y = 2187 if x is rice and y is beans? b) write an equation that represents the number of servings or rice and beans consumed each day....would this be 2x=y because you eat twice as much rice as beans? 3) solve the system of equations using the substitution method. I am confused because my teacher gave me different answers and I don't understand. Thanks!
