Remember that x-5 = 1/x5. Hence:
x-5/x = 1/x5*x = 1/x5+1 = 1/x6
Another way to do it is to use the rule for dividing exponents that have the same base:
xa/xb = xa-b
Remembering that x = x1:
x-5/x1 = x-5-1 = x-6 = 1/x6
