When you are factoring an expression like this you want to find two numbers that when multiplied together give you the last term (10) and when added together give you the middle coefficient (7). In this case those two numbers would be 5 and 2 because

5 x 2 = 10

5 + 2 = 7

What that means is that the factored expression is

(y + 2)(y + 5)
