A day without Math is like a day without sunshine!
Hi Seth,
Factor the following trinomial completely. Look first for the greatest common factor.
15y3+8y2+y
In this trinomial there are three terms;
1st term 15y3 there are three y's y, y, y
2nd term 8y2 there are two y's y, y
3rd term y there is one y y
Looking at all three terms, what is common to all of them? One y. So y can be factored out. If you take one y out of each term how many y's are left? What remains goes inside the parentheses.
15y3+8y2+y
= y(15y2+8y +1)
Hope that helps.
