Math, microeconomics or criminal justice
4a^4 -a^2 -6
a^2= 1/8 +/- (1/8)sqr(1 +96)
a^2 = 1/8+/- sqr(97)/8
a^2 = (1+/-sqr97)/8
a^2 = 1+sqr97/8, 1 -sqr97/8
a = +/-sqr(1+sqr97/8), +/- sqr(1-sqr97/8)
4 factors are
(a-sqr(1+sqr97/8)(a+sqr(1+sqr97/8)(a+sqr(1-sqr97/8)(a-sqr(1-sqr97)
there are no integer factors, just irrational factors
unless you meant something different by a^4 4 -a^2 -6
maybe you accidentally hit "4" twice so you really meant
a^4 -a^2 -6
then
let x = a^2
x^2 -x -6
=(x-3)(x+2)
=(a^2-3)(a^2+2)
that's as far as most people would go, for integer factors
