divide using long division. i dont know how to get the answer the book has. the answer in the book is x^2-7x+16-(39/x+2).

The answer should be x² -7x +16 -39/(x+2).

 

You need to study the examples of polynomial division in your textbook.  It's too difficult to be typed here, but your book should help you.  If there's no book, go online or Google "division of polynomials".
