Math, microeconomics or criminal justice
(a^4b^2 - ab^2)/(-ab^2)
= -a^3 + 1
when you divide, subtract the denominators' exponents from the numerators' exponents
(a^4b^2 -ab^2)/(-ab^2)
= a^4b^2/(ab^2) - ab^2/(-ab^2)
= a^(4-1)b^(2-2) + 1
= -a^3 + 1
= 1 -a^3
you could also factor the quotient, if you want
=-(a^3 - 1) = -(a-1)(a^2 + a +1)
= (1-a)(a^2 + a + 1)
