{-10x+5y=-25

-10x+5(-8x-25)=-25

-10x-40x-125=-25

-50x=125-25

-50x=100

x=-2

y=-8(-2)-25

y=16-25

y=-9

From the 2nd equation we have y  =  2x  +  5  Substitute this into the forst equation

 

2x  +  5  =  -8x  -  25

 

10x  =  -30   or x  =  -3  Substitute this into equation 1)

 

y  = -8x -25    or -8(-3) -25  =-1  If you plug these values intp both equations you see they work
