Let w be width (an integer); then length must be w + 2.  (Consecutive EVEN integers differ by 2)

 

Since area = the product of length and width, you have A = w(w+2).

 

I answered this question for you so that you can LEARN THE APPROACH.  Most "word" problems should begin with "Let some letter represent some quantity in the problem..."  Then other statements will translate into easy equations.
